Pacifica Island Art uses an environmentally-friendly Unryu Japanese rice paper made by the Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan. Unryu, which translates to 'cloud dragon paper' in Japanese, features long strands of kozo fiber and is made from natural mulberry and hemp fibers using traditional Japanese Washi techniques - ABOUT THE ARTIST - ALBERT BRENET (1903-2005) was a painter , poster artist and illustrator. Originally from the region of Le Havre , he already drew boats and harbors as a child. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1920, but it was his seven months journey on one of the last three trading sailing from Le Havre, which was decisive for his painting career. He traveled the world's oceans on different ships making sketches, oil paintings, gouaches of ships, ports including scenes the crew's life. Albert Brenet was officially appointed Navy painter in 1936. With Marin-Marie whom he met in 1931, Roger Rosary and Mathurin Méheut , he is considered one of the great French marine painters of the twentieth century.
